July 11, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa -- Ian Stewart homered and drove in two runs, while Angel Castro allowed one run in seven innings, as the Albuquerque Isotopes extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs on Thursday night at Principal Park. The Isotopes (54-41) are a season-high 13 games over .500, as they've won 10 of 14 and 20 of their last 29 games.
Castro (6-2) allowed only four hits and one walk in seven innings. His scoreless streak was at 13 innings, before the Cubs scored a run in the seven inning on a Brad Nelson triple and Junior Lake sacrifice fly.
The seventh inning ended when Jae-Hoon Ha hit a liner into right field, but didn't realize the ball was fair and initially stayed in the batters box. Isotopes right fielder Jeremy Moore charged the ball, initially bobbled it, but still threw out Ha at first base for the highly unusual 9-3 out at first base.
Peter Moylan pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts. Javy Guerra recorded his third save with a scoreless ninth inning that also included two strikeouts.
Justin Sellers got the Topes on the board with a two-run, two-out single in the first inning. Sellers has 40 RBIs in 47 games.
Stewart, who began the season with the Iowa Cubs, hit a 2-0 pitch off Barret Loux (4-4) over the center-field fence for his first home run with the Isotopes. Stewart singled home Matt Angle in the fifth inning to cap the scoring.
Game two of the four-game series is Friday night, starting at 6:05 pm MT. Rob Rasmussen starts for the Isotopes, while Guillermo Moscoso goes for the I-Cubs. Listen to all the action on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
