Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Right-handed pitcher Luis Vasquez joins the Albuquerque Isotopes today, July 11 from Double-A Chattanooga. Catcher Stephen Cilladi was activated from the disabled list. In two corresponding moves, infielder Rusty Ryal was placed on the disabled list with a right oblique strain retroactive to July 10 and catcher John Baker was placed on the temporarily inactive list today.

In 18 appearances with Double-A Chattanooga this season, Vasquez holds a 3-3 record with a 2.88 ERA (8 ER/ 25.0 innings) and finished half of those games. The 27-year-old hurler was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a non-drafted free agent on October 20, 2003. This will be the Dominican native's second Triple-A roster appearance after pitching in nine games with Albuquerque last season. In seven Minor League seasons with the Dodgers, Vasquez is 11-15 with a 5.13 ERA (139 ER/ 244.0 IP).

Ryal is hitting .288 (86-for-299) with 15 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 40 RBI in 81 games for the Isotopes this season. The Oklahoma native is one behind Chili Buss for the season team-lead in games played. He has posted a .350 average when hitting from the clean-up spot in the order, which he has done 25 times this year.

Baker joined the Isotopes on June 16 after he was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers from the San Diego Padres on June 15. In 16 games this year with the Padres, Baker batted .150 (6-for-40). He hit .231 (3-for-13) in four games with Triple-A Tucson. Since joining Albuquerque, he is hitting .215 (14-for-65) with a home run and eight RBI in 19 games behind the plate.

Cilladi was most recently activated from the disabled list on June 20 after beginning the season there. He was placed on the disabled list again on June 24 with a right ankle sprain. The backstop was originally signed by the Dodgers in the 33rd round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. In 39 Minor League games, the Phoenix native is batting .181 (17-for-94) with two home runs and a triple.

Albuquerque begins their final road trip before the All-Star Break against the Iowa Cubs tonight at 6:05 PM MDT. Righty Angel Castro (5-2, 3.09) will take the hill for Albuquerque against Iowa's Barret Loux (4-3, 4.25). All the action can be heard on 610 "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
