Isotopes poised to eclipse 600,000 attendance mark
September 3, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
With one regular season game remaining, the Albuquerque Isotopes are on the cusp of achieving two major attendance milestones, surpassing the previous season attendance record while simultaneously reaching the 600,000 fan plateau for the first time in Albuquerque baseball history.
After 7,514 fans attended Wednesday night's game against the Round Rock Express, the âTopes have now drawn 593,190 for the 2009 season, just 417 shy of the previous team attendance mark of 593,606 set a year ago and a mere 6,810 fans away from 600,000 for the year.
"Given the current economic climate, reaching the 600,000 plateau is a tremendous milestone," said Isotopes General Manager John Traub. "It is testament to the amazing support we've enjoyed through the season and we're consistently awed and humbled by the continuing passion the city of Albuquerque has for the Isotopes."
This season, the âTopes have drawn more than 10,000 fans a record 15 separate times, including a record throng of 15,358 that came to see the Isotopes on July 3.
Albuquerque is one of just seven teams in Minor League Baseball to have drawn as many as 590,000 fans this season and is currently third in the 16-team Pacific Coast League behind only Sacramento and Round Rock.
The Isotopes wrap up their epic 13-game homestand tomorrow with a final game before Round Rock before the team heads to Iowa to wrap up the regular season with a set against the I-Cubs. After their trip to Des Moines, the âTopes return home to kick off the 2009 PCL Playoffs at Isotopes Park on Wednesday, September 9. Tickets for Isotopes playoff games may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
