
Isotopes Wallach Named PCL Manager of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Pacific Coast League today announced Tim Wallach has been named PCL manager of the year, an honor annually chosen by his peers and league media representatives.
After a three-year absence from professional baseball, Wallach is in his first season as manager of the Isotopes, guiding them to a current record of 76-and-63 with five games remaining. He previously managed the Dodgers Single-A clubs in the California League in 1998 and 2001. Wallach served as the hitting coach for the Dodgers in 2004 and 2005 under Jim Tracy. After the 2005 season, he left professional baseball to coach his three sons, all of whom are baseball players.
Wallach played 17 seasons in the Major Leagues with Montreal from 1980-1992, Los Angeles from 1993-1996, and California in 1996. A third baseman, he batted .257 with 260 home runs and 1,125 RBI during his career. He was a five-time National League All-Star with Montreal, three-time Rawlings NL Gold Glove winner, and a two-time Silver Slugger award winner.
Previous award winners include Tommy Lasorda of Spokane in 1970, Mike Hargrove of Colorado Springs in 1989, Charlie Manuel of Colorado Springs in 1992, and last year's winner Pat Listach of Iowa.
