Albuquerque, NM - Despite a two-run homer by Jimmy Herron to put Albuquerque on the board before an out was recorded in the bottom of the first inning, Sugar Land's pitching staff buckled down in impressive fashion.
Space Cowboys starter Jairo Solis allowed just three more baserunners the rest of the way while completing six innings, and Austin Hansen fired the final three frames as the visitors claimed a 6-3 victory on Thursday.
Topes Scope: - The Isotopes were held to four hits, tied for their second-fewest in a game along with April 7 vs. Salt Lake and April 23 vs. OKC. It was their lowest total since May 17 vs. Tacoma (three).
- Herron recorded his 13th multi-hit game of the season and his sixth multi-RBI performance (fourth with three runs batted in). Additionally, it was the second time Herron picked up two extra-base hits in a contest (May 3 vs. Sugar Land).
- Coco Montes was 0-for-3 with a walk, his fourth hitless performance in his last seven contests. He is just 5-for-25 during the stretch.
- Aaron Schunk has been held hitless in back-to-back ballgames for the second time this season (April 23-25).
- Brian Serven saw his 11-game hitting streak come to an end. He slashed .292/.333/.417 with three doubles, a homer and eight RBI during the stretch with three multi-hit contests.
- Ty Blach struck out three batters in two perfect innings of relief. He has compiled a 1.45 ERA (3 ER/18.2 IP) with just four walks and 15 strikeouts over his last six outings.
- Chance Adams made his Rockies organizational debut with an inning of relief, striking out two batters and giving up a solo homer to Quincy Hamilton.
- Solis was the eighth starter to complete six or more innings against Albuquerque in 2023, his three hits allowed were third-fewest by an opposing hurler (Hogan Harris, May 10 at Las Vegas)
- Hansen became the second pitcher to record a three-inning save against the Isotopes this season; Colin Peluse (Las Vegas) accomplished the feat on May 11.
- Albuquerque's bullpen has allowed only three runs over their last 24 innings dating back to June 2, a 1.13 ERA.
- Albuquerque batters struck out 10 times, the 31st time in 60 contests they have finished with double-digits in punchouts offensively.
- Albuquerque pitchers struck out 11, tied for the third-highest total in a contest this season and most since May 21 vs. Tacoma (13).
- 12 combined hits by the teams tied for the fewest in a game this year, done on four previous occasions, most recently June 1 at Salt Lake.
- Albuquerque has played errorless baseball in seven of their last nine games dating back to May 30 at Salt Lake.
- The Isotopes left just four runners on base, tied for their second-fewest in a contest.
- Albuquerque is 2-8 on Thursdays in 2023, including three straight losses.
- The Isotopes have their worst record through 60 games in team history at 24-36. The previous worst was in 2021, when the team was 25-35.
On Deck: Isotopes hats will be given to the first 3,000 fans through the gates tomorrow, courtesy of Tecate Alta. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. with right-handers Kyle McGowin and Karl Kaufmann scheduled to match up for Sugar Land and Albuquerque, respectively.
