Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque, NM - Starter Jeff Criswell fired 6.0 frames of one run ball, tallying the club's 10th quality start, while the offense broke out to score seven runs in the sixth inning, including a two-run, 438 ft. dinger by Coco Montes, to propel the club to a 7-4 triumph and end their season-long eight-game skid Tuesday night at RGCU Field at Isotopes Park.
Topes Scope: - The Isotopes have won six-straight over the Chihuahuas, tied for the club's longest winning streak over El Paso (also: Sept. 2, 2016 - May 3, 2017).
-Albuquerque stole three bases on the night, the 16th time the club has swiped multiple bases in a contest in the second half.
-All nine Isotopes starters recorded at least one base hit.
-The Isotopes scored seven runs in the sixth frame, tied for the third-most tallies in an inning this season (also: April 2 at Round Rock) and the most scored in a frame since plating eight Aug. 2 vs. Las Vegas.
-Criswell tossed 6.0 innings and allowed one run on three hits and five walks while fanning five. It was the 10th quality start of the year for the Isotopes (first since Karl Kauffmann June 30 vs. El Paso) and Criswell's second of the year (also: May 17 vs. Tacoma). He also becomes the third Isotopes pitcher to fire 6.0 innings and allow one run or fewer (also: Phillips Valdez, May 9; Josh Rogers, May 13).
-Coco Montes collected two hits, including a two-run homer, for his team-leading 36th multi-hit effort of the year and fifth in his last eight games. He has an extra-base hit in five of his last eight games, including two-straight. The homer he hit off Adrian Morejon was his first off a lefty this year.
-Wynton Bernard bashed two hits for his 18th multi-hit effort in his 35th game, 33rd start, and his fifth in his last seven contests. He also stole his 11th base with the club, second on the team since joining the squad June 30.
-Daniel Montaño tallied his eighth multi-hit contest with two knocks. Over his last 11 games, he is slashing .364/.429/.727 (16x44) with five doubles, one triple, three homers, nine RBI and four walks. Nine of 19 extra-base hits have come during that stretch.
-Aaron Schunk connected on two singles and two RBI for his 29th multi-hit effort, first since Aug. 4 vs. Las Vegas, and 16th multi-RBI effort of 2023. Has a modest three-game hitting streak with four knocks after recording only three hits in his previous seven games.
-Michael Petersen pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save with the Isotopes. It was also the club's first save since July 27 vs. Sacramento when Tommy Doyle tallied his fifth save with the club, a 15-game stretch without recording save (third-longest streak of season).
-The Isotopes played their 62nd game error-free game of the year. It's the team's first two-game stretch without a miscue since they went five-straight from July 5-9.
-Albuquerque registered just two extra-base hits on the night, the 20th time the club has been held to exactly two extra-base knocks. It was also the team's first win when recording exactly two extra-base hits.
-The Isotopes drew just one walk on the night, the eighth time the team has recorded just on free pass and the first time since June 29 vs. El Paso.
-With a 3-0 count to El Paso's Taylor Kohlwey, Jeff Criswell and the Isotopes issued the team's eighth intentional walk of the season and the fourth in the second half.
On Deck: The Isotopes and Chihuahuas meet for game two Wednesday at 6:35 pm at RGCU Field. Albuquerque is expected to send Ben Braymer to the hill while El Pas is slated to start Aaron Leasher.
