UNIONDALE, N.Y. (March 27, 2014) - The New York Islanders announced today that forward John Persson has been recalled under emergency conditions from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Persson, 21, has 16 points (12 goals, four assists) in 43 games with the Sound Tigers this season. The Ostersund, Sweden, native's 12 goals and seven power-play goals lead all active Sound Tigers.

The Islanders selected Persson in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2011 National Hockey League Draft. In 120 career AHL games with Bridgeport, Persson has 33 goals and 20 assists.

Persson made his professional debut at the end of the 2011-12 season, after completing a three-year junior career with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. In 200 career games with Red Deer, Persson scored 130 points (63 goals, 67 assists).
