IronPigs Game Notes

Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The IronPigs (33-26) play Game Three of a four-game series against the second-place Gwinnett Braves (33-27) at Coca-Cola Park... With a 5-1 win last night, the Pigs have now won four straight over the Braves (by a 35-9 total margin) and have improved to 3-2 in this rain-shortened, seven-game homestand. Still, Lehigh Valley has gone just 5-8 since reaching its high-water mark of 10-games above .500 on May 23... The Braves -- Atlanta's top affiliate -- have dropped three straight games and seven of their last eight affairs since the Pigs snapped their five-game winning streak on May 30 (their fourth, five-game win streak of 2012).

RHP Scott Elarton (5-2, 3.55) will start for RHP Kris Medlen (0-1, 15.43).

Tonight is Mini Bat Giveaway and Health Fair Night, presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network... First-Pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

WAGING THE MINIMUM:

In each of the first two games against the Braves, the Pigs pitching staff has held the Gwinnett offense to just 2 batters over the minimum -- the first time LHV has done that in back-to-back, 9-inning games... The only other time they've held a team to just 2 over the minimum was on Opening Day 4/5 vs. SWB -- also a game started by RHP Tyler Cloyd.
