Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- A game-worn pink jersey auction courtesy of Community Health Network, an autograph session with Major League great Lee Smith and the magical costume transformations of "Quick Change" highlight an exciting evening at Victory Field on Saturday, June 9.
To promote Breast Health Awareness, Indians players and coaches will wear special pink jerseys for the 7:05 p.m. contest against the Rochester Red Wings. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the contest with proceeds to benefit Community Health Network Foundation's Breast Health Fund.
"Community appreciates the commitment shown by the Indians each year to enhancing breast health awareness and focusing attention on this very important issue," said Sue Reimbold, Vice President of Marketing for Community Health Network. "We are happy to serve as a partner in bringing helpful early detection information and shining a light on this disease for Indians fans who attend and watch the game, while also raising funds for breast cancer treatment through the pink jersey auction."
"The Indians are proud to partner with Community Health Network to bring attention to this critical cause," said Cal Burleson, Vice President and General Manager of the Indianapolis Indians. "All proceeds from Saturday's pink jersey auction will go towards efforts that make a positive impact on the lives of Indianapolis-area breast cancer patients and their families."
Former All-Time saves leader Lee Smith will also be on hand to sign autographs for fans (one personal item per fan) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., behind section 110 on the main concourse of Victory Field. Smith, who pitched for eight different teams over his 18-year Major League career, including the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds, was the keynote speaker at the Indianapolis Indians 2012 Hot Stove Luncheon.
Saturday's contest will also feature the magical costume transformations of "Quick Change" who will perform during inning breaks and following the conclusion of the contest. "Quick Change" is the creation of David Michael Maas and Dania Kaseeva, who entertain fans by combining a series of elegant ballroom sequences into a progression of dramatically colorful costume changes.
Tickets to Saturday's game and all four contests of the Indians upcoming homestand (June 9-12) are available by going online to IndyIndians.com, calling the Indians single game ticket hotline at 317-269-2282 or by visiting the Victory Field Box Office open daily at 501 West Maryland Street.
