Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The first-place IronPigs (49-35) play the finale of a two-game series against the second place Scranton/W-B Yankees (45-38). With a 5-3 loss last night, the Pigs snapped their three-game winning streak and have started 0-1 on this seven-game, North Division road trip. Just 8-11 in their last 19 affairs, the Pigs have still gone 6-3 since their season-long, five-game losing streak (June 21-25) and remains 39-24 since starting 10-11 (through April 28)... The Yankees -- New York's top affiliate -- have won four of their last five contests and are 24-18 since falling to 21-20 on May 22...
RHP Tyson Brummett (0-2, 5.93) will start for LHV against former IronPigs RHP Brian Gordon (5-0, 1.14).
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m... Next up for the Pigs is a three-game series at Rochester.
WITH A WIN TODAY, THE PIGS...:
* Avoid being swept in a series for the first time in 2011. The last time LHV was swept was 8/26-8/27/10 @ SWB.
* Will have win #50 of 2011 (only 10 teams in MiLB are there now)... The soonest the Pigs have ever won 50 was 7/28/09 (G-103; 50-53)... It took til 8/8 in 2008 (G-121; 50-71) & 8/20 in 2010 (G-126; 50-76).
