Gwinnett Stripers News Release

The Gwinnett Braves fell, just like the rain, to the Durham Bulls by a score of 3-1 at Coolray Field, in Lawrenceville, GA, in the last game of the four game home and home series. The game was shortened due to a severe thunderstorm. The G-Braves (46-39) are now tied with the Bulls (46-39) for first place in the International League South division.

It Was Over When: RHP Todd Redmond allowed two solo HR in the top of the 5th to DH Leslie Anderson and C Robinson Chirinos.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: RHP Todd Redmond (5-8) started the game and threw a complete game. He tossed 6.0 IP allowing 3 R/ER on 5 H with a BB and 5 K's. He earns his 8th loss of the season and his ERA rises to 3.17.

At the plate: 2B Ruben Gotay scored the lone for the Braves, having a 1-for-1 night with a R and a BB. CF Matt Young drove Gotay in for the only G-Braves RBI. He finished the night going 1-for-3 with an RBI. SS Brandon Hicks hitting streak is stopped at 11 games with a 0-for-3 night.

Chirnios was the other Bull with a HR, he went 1-for-2 with a HR, R and RBI.

On Deck: Gwinnett heads back on the road to take on the Charlotte Knights in a quick two game series. The Bulls will send out RHP Julio Teheran (9-1, 1.79) vs. RHP Joe Bisenius (2-0, 1.86) for the Knights. As always, the game can be heard on the home of the G-Braves, WDUN 550 AM/102.9 FM with the voice of the G-Braves, Tony Schiavone calling all the action.
