Lowell, MA - The Aberdeen IronBirds mustered just two hits in 11 innings Wednesday night, but it was all they needed. The IronBirds defeated the Lowell Spinners 1-0.

At one point, Bridwell retired 14 straight Spinners. On the other side, right-hander Luis Diaz pitched six scoreless innings as well.

Still scoreless in the 11th, the IronBirds finally pushed a run across. Austin Knight was hit by a pitch. Kyle Hoppy knocked him in on an RBI-triple to right field.

Kyle Simon (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings of relief to pick up his first win. Mike McCarthy (0-1) allowed just the winning run in three innings of work.

The IronBirds and the Spinners will meet in the rubber match of this three-game series Thursday evening at LeLacheur Park.
