Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Aberdeen, MD - On Monday night, September 5th, the Aberdeen IronBirds will begin to close out a great 2005 season with a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the nights that Cal Ripken tied and broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive games record.
Cal Ripken will be on hand at the IronBirds-Cyclones game with his family and he will take part in a special pre-game ceremony that will also include former Orioles teammate and Baseball Hall of Famer Eddie Murray.
Festivities, set to begin at 7:00 p.m., will include a question and answer session with Cal by the voice of the IronBirds, Steve Melewski, recognition of contest winners from the Ripken Baseball Memories contest on ripken2131.com and a video board tribute from fans and former teammates. Ripken Stadium will be suitably dressed up for the occasion, and special merchandise commemorating the event will be available at the Hangar.
A day after the festivities, the IronBirds close out their 2005 home schedule on September 6th with Fan Appreciation Day.
