The Williamsport Crosscutters scored seven unanswered runs over the middle three innings Thursday night, to come from behind and beat Aberdeen, 7-3, in front of 1,258 fans at Bowman Field.
Aberdeen scored once in second and twice in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Top draft pick Brandon Snyder had an RBI single in the second and, in the fourth, Cory Shafer singled in one and another run scored on a wild pitch.
After producing 10 hits or more for five games in a row, Aberdeen was held to eight hits Thursday by three Crosscutter pitchers with Darren Newlin (3-1) getting the win.
In his first Aberdeen start, righty Kyle Schmidt pitched four innings and allowed three runs, all unearned, on five hits, all singles. Brandon Erbe, in his second Aberdeen appearance, allowed three runs, two hits and three walks in two-thirds of an inning.
Steven Pearce and Brad Corley had two RBI each as Williamsport (38-31) stayed within 2.5 games of wild-card leading Lowell.
Rob Marconi's single in the eigth inning was hit only hit and extended his hitting streak to 11 games, while Zack Davis also had one hit, a second inning single, and has now hit safely in nine games in a row.
Snyder was 1-3 with an RBI and run scored, caught for the first time with Aberdeen and is now 3-10 in three IronBird games.
