
IronBirds lose lead late

On a night when righty Brad Bergesen pitched six shutout innings, the IronBirds bullpen allowed nine runs in two innings, losing two leads, as Brooklyn rallied to beat Aberdeen, 9-6.
The IronBirds went 1-3 on this road trip and have lost 9 of 12 games falling to 21-38 on the year.
Bergesen allowed just five hits in his six innings. He fanned two, walked one and has pitched to an ERA of 1.64 over his last four starts.
But Bryce Chamberlin, Russ Brocato and Don Levinski allowed nine runs over the 7th and 8th frames.
Aberdeen, which led 3-0 after six, trailed 4-3 heading to the top of the 8th and got a 6-4 lead on Bobby Andrews 2-run 3B and Ryan Steinbach's RBI single.
But Brookly scored five on five hits in the bottom of the 8th for the 9-6 lead and win.
Rob Marconi went 3-4, with a single, solo homer and triple. Andrews and Steinbach had two hits each.
NOTES --- Aberdeen falls to 3-5 vs. Brooklyn.......Brooklyn homered twice in its four-run 7th.........most of the IronBirds players get the next two days off for the NY-Penn Lg all-star break......Aberdeen will be represented at Tuesday's game in Brooklyn by 1B Mark Fleisher (.295--6--23) and RHP Blake Owen (1-2--8 svs--1.57).......Aberdeen's season resumes Wednesday night at Ripken Stadium, when the IronBirds host New Jersey to start a 7-game homestand......
