VERSUS BROOKLYN:

Aberdeen is 4-4 vs. Brooklyn so far in 2009. This will be the last time this season the two teams face each other.

LAST SERIES VS BATAVIA:

The wildcard hopes of the ‘Birds took a serious hit as they were unable to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Batavia Muckdogs. Aberdeen lost game one, 10-4, game two 3-0 in 13 innings, and the rain shortened finale 4-2 last night.

SEXTON TOUCHED UP:

LHP Tyler Sexton took his seventh loss of the season last night. His undoing came in the second inning when he allowed three runs. In all Sexton gave up four runs, all earned, seven hits, one walk, and five strike outs in his five innings of work.

STREAKING ‘BIRDS:

T.J Baxter was able to extend his hitting streak to seven games last night, he singled in the seventh and immediately afterwards the game was called due to rain. Garabez Rosa had his streak snapped at four games in the shortened contest. Mike Gioioso and Tom Edwards both stand at two game hitting streaks.

THE GOLD STANDARD GOES TO DELMARVA:

Levi Carolus was leading the team in six offensive categories: average, hits, RBI, doubles, slugging and stolen bases. Carolus went 3-5 with an RBI in the ‘Birds 9-3 win over Jamestown on Aug. 16th. Carolus was rewarded for his strong play by being promoted to Delmarva after the NYPL All-Star game on Aug. 19th.

‘BIRDS AMPING UP THE POWER

Garabez Rosa hit his team leading fifth homerun of the season on August 16th, his second of the series against Jamestown. Last night Tyler Townsend, after going hitless for two games, drove a home run over the right field wall for his second of the season and the ‘Birds third in six games.
