'Birds No-Hit In Game One Of Double-Header

(ABERDEEN, MD) - Taking the field for game one of today's double-header, the Birds looked to improve upon their .500 record versus Brooklyn but were no-hit and fell 5-0.

Justin Garber led off the first inning for Brooklyn with a double to right field. Richard Lucas hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Garber and put the Cyclones up 1-0 after one inning of play.

Brooklyn's Luis Rivera led off the fourth inning with a walk. Two outs later, Alex Gregory hit a double into center field, allowing Rivera to score increasing the Cyclones lead to 2-0.

In the top of the seventh, Garber hit a single with the bases loaded, to score Gregory. Jordany Valdespin singled to score Robbie Shields. Rivera reached base on an error to score Garber to put the Cyclones up 5-0.

Nick Haughian (6-2), making his first career start versus Brooklyn, went 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on six hits along with three strike outs and two walks. Haughian received the loss in the game.

Brooklyn's Brandon Moore (5-2) threw a no-hitter, while going 7.0 innings, allowing no runs while striking out six, walking three and earning the victory.

The ‘Birds will play the second game of their double-header at 5:35 p.m. tonight. The starters for tonight's game will be Stephen Procner (0-3) for the ‘Birds and Mark Cohoon (7-2) for the Cyclones.

After tonight's game two; the ‘Birds welcome in the Lowell Spinners for a 3-game series tomorrow. Colin Allen (1-5) will start the series opener for the ‘Birds.
