Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Wolves lost their first home game of the season as the Cleveland Charge won by a score of 121-104 on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a crowd of 2,571 fans.
Jules Bernard scored a game-high 33 points for Cleveland (5-7) while Feron Hunt and Darius Brown added 21 and 20 points, respectively. As a team, the Charge knocked down 17-of-39 (43.6 percent) from behind the three-point line. Brown made six threes.
Iowa (10-3), which dropped to 5-1 at home, was led by Leonard Miller who scored 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Miller has recorded a double-double in 11 of 12 games this season. Kok Yat had a season-high 13 points off the bench. The Wolves struggled shooting beyond the arc going 9-of-34 (26.5 percent).
For the second consecutive night, Iowa raced out to a first quarter lead holding a 33-24 advantage going into the second period. For the second-straight game, the Charge posted another strong second quarter as they outscored the Wolves, 36-22, for a 60-55 halftime lead.
Iowa couldn't find the comeback magic like Monday night as Cleveland seized control with a dominant third quarter holding Iowa to just 20 points. Iowa bounced back with a better fourth quarter, but the deficit was too much as Cleveland won the second game of the back-to-back between the teams.
Iowa will look to get back on track Friday night hosting the Motor City Cruise for its Howliday Game. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Naz Reid scarf courtesy of MidAmerican Energy. Fans should make plans to arrive early to receive a scarf and to meet Santa Claus (located directly inside the north entrance of Wells Fargo Arena). Kids can also enjoy a winter wonderland with a gingerbread bouncy castle and ride the holiday train, both located in the Champions Club.
