
Iowa Wild Names Pascal Rheaume Assistant Coach

DES MOINES, IA -The Iowa Wild announced on Wednesday the American Hockey League (AHL) club has named Pascal Rheaume (Pass-cal, Ray-ohm) Assistant Coach.
Rheaume, 42 (6/21/73), joins the Wild from the Sherbrooke Cougars of the QJHL (Quebec Junior Hockey League), where he led the team to a 73-20-11 record as the team's head coach over the past two seasons. In each season, the team advanced to the Fred Page Cup Finals, losing in seven games both times. Prior to leading the Cougars, Rheaume was an assistant coach with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's (QMJHL) Sherbrooke Phoenix (12-13) and the Drummondville Voltigeurs (10-11). This marks Rheaume's first season as an assistant coach in the American Hockey League.
He enjoyed a 17-year playing career, highlighted by a Stanley Cup Championship with the New Jersey Devils in 2003. In all, Rheaume played in 318 career NHL games with the Devils, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes, Atlanta Thrashers and the New York Rangers - scoring 39 goals and totaling 52 assists for 91 points. The Quebec City native also spent significant time in the AHL, suiting up for the Worcester Ice Cats, Albany River Rats, Hartford Wolf Pack, San Antonio Rampage, Lowell Devils, Manchester Monarchs and the Peoria Rivermen. In all, Rheaume played in 589 AHL games, scoring 174 goals and 235 goals for 409 total AHL points. The former forward also played one season in Austria (07-08) and one season in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Flint Generals (09-10).
Rheaume's older sister, Manon Rheaume, is the only woman to suit up for an NHL preseason game. The former goaltender enjoyed a brief career with stops in the IHL (Atlanta 92-93), ECHL (Knoxville & Nashville 93-94). Manon also played in Las Vegas (IHL 94-95) and Flint (IHL 08-09).
Iowa begins its third season in the AHL this fall. The team will host Opening Night on Saturday, Oct. 10. The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team's 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena.
