DES MOINES, IOWA - Iowa Wild (11-4-1-1; 24 pts.) fell to the Milwaukee Admirals (11-6-3-0; 25 pts.) in the shootout Wednesday night by a score of 3-2.
For the fourth consecutive game and 12th time in 17 games, Iowa registered the first goal of the game. At 13:59 in the first period, defenseman Hunter Warner ripped a shot on net that was saved by goaltender Troy Grosenick (29 saves). The rebound found the stick of forward Mike Liambas, who beat Grosenick blocker side for his fourth goal of the season. Forward Gerry Mayhew also earned an assist on the play.
Milwaukee tied the game up 28 seconds later when winger Tanner Jeannot found the back of the net. Jeannot cashed in on a rebound off goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen (31 saves), beating him short side to bring the game to 1-1. The goal capped Kahkonen's shutout streak at 222:22, setting a new franchise record.
Admirals leading scorer Matt Donovan added to his total at 17:53 in the first period, notching his seventh goal of the season, coming on the power play. Donovan received a pass from defenseman Frederic Allard and put a slapshot in the top left corner of the net, giving the home team a 2-1 lead.

Wild forward Cal O'Reilly tied the game at 2-2 with a tally at 5:48 in the middle frame. While on the power play, O'Reilly received a cross-ice pass from winger Sam Anas and walked to the left faceoff circle before releasing a wrist shot on net. The puck beat Grosenick high stick side for his fourth goal of the season. Anas's primary assist was his 100th career AHL point, while defenseman Ryan Murphy recorded the secondary helper.
