
Dallas Stars Recall Defenseman Taylor Fedun, Reassign Defenseman Ben Gleason to Texas

FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Texas Stars. Also, they reassigned defenseman Ben Gleason to Texas. The Stars have also reassigned defenseman Ondrej Vala from the team's ECHL affiliate, the Idaho Steelheads, in a separate transaction, while forward Elgin Pearce rejoins Texas after being recalled from loan to Idaho.
Fedun, 30, has appeared in 12 AHL games this season with Rochester and Texas, recording eight points (1-7=8). Since joining Texas, he has posted three points (1-2=3) in three games. He was acquired by Dallas from Buffalo in exchange for a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft on Nov. 10, 2018. He will wear number 42 with Dallas.
The blueliner has appeared in 46 regular-season NHL contests over five seasons with Edmonton, San Jose, Vancouver and Buffalo, registering 15 points (2-13=15). Fedun has amassed 179 points (41-138=179) in 349 AHL regular-season contests and posted eight points (4-4=8) in 31 Calder Cup Playoff contests.
The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta was originally undrafted and signed as a free agent by Edmonton on March 8, 2011.
Gleason, 20, recorded one assist (0-1=1) in four NHL contests with Dallas this season. He has also registered eight points (2-6=8) in 13 AHL games with Texas this season.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Ortonville, Mich. was signed as an undrafted free agent with Dallas on Sept. 13, 2018.
Vala, 20, began the season with the Steelheads after skating in a pair of preseason games with the Stars. The blue liner has earned one assist (0-1=1) in 10 ECHL games with Idaho while also skating in two AHL contests with the Stars this season. The Czech Republic native made his AHL Debut two seasons ago, tallying an assist in three games with Texas.
The WHL product played 191 games in junior hockey from 2015 to 2018 and recorded 74 points (21-53=74) with Kamloops and Everett.
Pearce, 26, began the season in Texas and played one game with the Stars to start the year. The forward from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia has played 11 career games in the AHL across the last three seasons, netting a goal and adding two assists. With Idaho, Pearce has tallied three assists (0-3=3) in nine contests.
The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, will return to the H-E-B Center on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7:00 p.m. for Teddy Bear Toss against the San Antonio Rampage.
