Iowa Energy Win 101-89 over the Santa Cruz Warriors

Santa Cruz, Calif. - The Iowa Energy (9-10) won 101-89 over the Santa Cruz Warriors (10-11) Friday night at the NBA D-League Showcase.

The Energy were led by Alex Stepheson who posted his 12th straight double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Andrew Harrison added 20 points, six rebounds and nine assists. All five Energy starters scored at least 17 points tonight. The Warriors were led by Darington Hobson with 24 points and 18 rebounds.

Santa Cruz jumped out to an early five point advantage before the Energy came back to take the lead. Iowa then opened up a seven-point lead behind Stepheson's physical offensive play. The Energy posted 12 points in the paint and held a 19-15 lead heading into the second quarter. The Energy continued to control play in the second and extended the lead to 17 points. Iowa would go on to hold a 47-34 lead at halftime behind 39 combined points from Harrison and Stepheson.

The Energy started off the second half with a hot start and quickly extended the lead to 22 points. The Energy led 72-55 after three quarters. Iowa continued to control the game in the fourth. Santa Cruz was able to close the gap to single digits with 4:46 to play. Iowa responded with a couple quick baskets to open the lead back up to double digits. The Energy went on to win 101-89 to win both of their NBA D-League Showcase games.

The Energy return home Jan. 12 against Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. The homestand continues with games on Jan. 14 and Jan. 15.
