Texas Legends News Release
SANTA CRUZ, CA - The Texas Legends (10-8) closed out the 2016 NBA Development League Showcase 2-0 with a 105-93 victory over the Delaware 87ers (12-11) Thursday night in Santa Cruz.
The Legends grabbed an early lead and held on through 48 minutes. Manny Harris powered Texas to a 31-21 first quarter with 4-of-7 shooting for 11 points and 3 assists. Sean Kilpatrick and Christian Wood combined for 15 points as Delaware fought to close the gap. The 87ers hit 67% from outside to outshoot Texas' 50% but remained behind heading into the locker room 58-47.
Kilpatrick came out firing but went 0-for-4 as the Legends took their largest lead of 24 points halfway through the third. The first half was no indicator for Kilpatrick though, as he finished with 12 in the quarter to cut the deficit to 12 heading into the final minutes. Texas utilized a balanced shooting attack as they pushed back Delaware's rally attempt. John Bohannon played his part in the fourth, knocking down 4-of-5 to lead the Sevens, but the Legends had an answer for every shot.
Texas finished off the night shooting 46% to Delaware's 39% but got outmatched outside as Delaware went 38% to Texas' 32%. The Legends got a boost on the boards, outrebounding the 87ers 49-43 while also dishing out 27 assists to Delaware's 23.
Texas gained from every active player and had seven score in double digits. Harris led the team with 20 points, 4 steals and 3 blocks while also adding 8 rebounds, 5 assists.
