Iowa Energy Fall to the Maine Red Claws

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (7-8) fell 101-90 to the Maine Red Claws (8-6) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Lazeric Jones with a game-high 30 points, three rebounds and five assists. Joel Wright added a double-double 23 points and 12 rebounds and Alex Stepheson posted a double-double 16 points and 17 rebounds. Maine was led by Levi Randolph with 26 points and three rebounds.

The Energy jumped out to an early seven-point lead before Maine clawed their way back to take the lead. Maine would then go on to open up a nine-point lead and led 28-19 at the end of the first quarter. Jones led the Energy with seven first quarter points. The Red Claws controlled the second quarter and opened up a 20-point lead at halftime, leading 58-38. Wright got hot for the Energy in the second with 13 points for a total of 18 points in the half. Randolph had 15 points for the Red Claws.

The Energy came out ready to play in the second half, outscoring the Red Claws 33-23 to cut the lead in half. Jones scored 18 points in the third to help start the Energy comeback. Maine led 81-71 heading into the fourth. Iowa continued to fight in the fourth quarter, closing the lead down to five points. The Energy were unable to complete the comeback and fell 101-90 to Maine.

The Energy play at home again on Monday against the Maine Red Claws at 7pm.
