
Westchester Knicks Bounce Back with Win over the Delaware 87ers

NEWARK - The Westchester Knicks (12-5), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, bounced back with an impressive win over division rival Delaware 87ers (9-8) on the road, the final score 107-93.
Westchester got off to a hot start, using a 10-4 run to get out to an early lead. Delaware followed this up with a run of their own, recording the next seven points to take a one-point advantage with six minutes left. The Knicks would display their resilience, outscoring Delaware 16-12 over the final five minutes to take a 26-23 lead at the end of the first.
Delaware struck first hitting their first shot of the quarter; however, the second period belonged to Westchester. With a collective scoring effort steered by Jordan Bachynski, Westchester outscored Delaware 20-8 in the first six minutes of the quarter. After Delaware ended the extensive run, Jimmer Fredette scored six consecutive points to push the Knicks' lead to 21 with just over two minutes left. Delaware scored the final four points; however, they still trailed Westchester 58-40 at the half.
Delaware showed some toughness of their own, coming out of the break to the tune of a 10-4 run to cut Westchester's lead to 12 with eight minutes left. The Knicks would hold serve, answering back with a 17-6 run over the next five minutes to regain a 22-point lead. After a Sean Marshall three-pointer, Delaware hit back-to-back threes to cut the Knicks lead to 16 with just under a minute left. Despite the late push, Westchester headed into the final period up 84-67.
Westchester continued their dominance in the fourth, scoring the first six points of the final period. After an 11-4 run brought Delaware within 15, Jimmer Fredette and Travis Trice hit back to back three-pointers to ice the game for Westchester. Despite a 13-point fourth quarter from White Plains native Sean Kilpatrick, the 87ers fell to Knicks 107-93.
Five Knicks finished in double figures in the win. Jimmer Fredette paced the team with 23 points, while Travis Trice was right behind him with 20 points. Darion Atkins notched another double-double finishing with 10 points and 15 rebounds, while Sean Marshall added 15 points off the bench.
White Plains native Sean Kilpatrick scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, finishing with 27 points overall. Former Iona College standout David Laury recorded a double-double for Delaware, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Westchester Knicks return home on Jan. 2, 2016 to kick off the New Year with a 1:00 p.m. rematch against the 87ers. The game will be broadcast live on MSG and the NBA Development League's YouTube channel.
