Iowa Energy Fall to Delaware

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (12-13) fell 119-105 to the Delaware 87ers (15-12) Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Andrew Harrison with 26 points, six rebounds and six assists. Alex Stepheson posted his 17th double-double in the last 18 games with 24 points and 16 rebounds. The 87ers were led by Russ Smith with 31 points, two rebounds and four assists.

It was a close start to the game in the first. Iowa was able to briefly open an eight-point lead behind 18 points in the paint. Stepheson led the way for the Energy with seven points and six rebounds. Iowa led 21-18 at the end of the first. The second quarter was a high scoring one with Delaware outscoring the Energy 36-30 to hold a 54-51 lead at halftime. The teams combined for five lead changes and five ties in the second. Harrison led the Energy at halftime with 12 points.

Delaware pulled ahead in the third quarter, opening up an 18-point lead behind 17 fast break points. The 87ers extended their lead to 23 points in the fourth behind a game total of 18 made three-pointers. Smith led Delaware with 14 points in the fourth to help seal the 119-105 win for the 87ers.

The Energy are home Thursday at 7pm for Guys Night against Grand Rapids and Canton on Saturday for Country Night with a post-game concert by Lindsay Ell.
