Iowa Cubs News Release
The Iowa Cubs scored eight runs in the third inning and cruised to a 12-4 win over the Tucson Sidewinders Saturday night at Principal Park.
Iowa starter Kevin Hart allowed just one run on three hits over 6.2 innings to pick up the win as he improved to 2-1 on the year. Hart helped his own cause with three hits and three runs batted in. Hart, who was a tremendous hitter in his college days at Maryland, is now batting .636 on the year as he has seven hits in 11 at bats for Iowa.
Eric Patterson and Geovany Soto joined Hart with three-hit games of their own. Every Cub but Carlos Rojas recorded a base hit in the blowout and every player in the Iowa lineup scored at least one run.
The Cubs took three of the four games against the Sidewinders and begin a four-game set with the Las Vegas 51's Sunday afternoon at Principal Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
