Intimidators Shutout: Augusta Wins Division

Kannapolis, NC--The Intimidators were blanked 2-0 by the Augusta Greenjackets, Friday at Fieldcrest Cannon stadium. With the win, Augusta clinched the second half Southern division crown. Augusta will face the Rome Braves in the first round of the 2006 South Atlantic League playoffs. The Intimidators were limited to just 3 hits in the shutout by Augusta hurler Joe Martinez. Martinez went 8 and a third strong, to up his record to 14-5. Lefty David Quinowski earned his 3rd save out of the pen. Jason Rice of Kannapolis allowed just 1 ER in 6 IP. He took the loss, dropping to 0-5 on the year. Brian Omogrosso and John Wesley combined for 3 scoreless innings in relief of Rice. With the loss, the Intimidators have now lost a league-high 12 games in a row.

The Is will try to end that streak as they finsh up a 4 game series with Augusta tomorrow night. Jason Rice starts for Kannapolis. The game will begin at 7:05pm.
