Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC; Kannapolis (2-9) edged out a 3-2 win against Greensboro (6-6), Monday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The Intimidators picked up a brilliant outing from Ricky Brooks. Brooks (7-5) got the win, allowing just one ER in 6 IP. Down 1-0 in the 3rd the Intimidators picked up 2 unearned runs as the Grasshoppers slipped defensively with 3 errors alone in the innings. With the game even at 2 in the 5th, Kannapolis picked up an RBI GW single from Francisco Hernandez to score Fernando Valenzuela. The run came off Greensboro RP Brad Stone, who suffered his first loss as a Grashopper. Paul Moviel and Jason Rice shut the door out of the pen on the Hoppers. Moviel struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings. Rice dismantled the Hoppers with 2 strikeouts for the save in the 9th, his 3rd of the season.
Kannapolis heads to Lexington, Ky to begin a 4 game series with the Legends, Tuesday night at 7:05pm. Clayton Richard is on the mound for the I's. The Intimidators return to K-town Saturday for a 3 game set with Greenville.
