
Nyquist called up to Potomac

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Left-handed pitcher Brett Nyquist was called up to the Hi-A Potomac Nationals, the Washington Nationals organization announced Monday. Nyquist is expected to start Game 1 of the Nationals' doubleheader with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans on Tuesday.
Nyquist has gone 5-2 with the Sand Gnats this season with a 2.66 ERA in 15 appearances, including four starts.
The Duluth, Minn., native began the season with Savannah and was transferred to Double-A Harrisburg on May 23 where he made two appearances before he was sent to Potomac on June 2. With the Nationals, Nyquist made three appearances out of the bullpen and was then transferred back to Savannah on June 13. The lefty has gone 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA since rejoining the Gnats.
Nyquist was drafted by the Washington Nationals out of the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) in the 13th round of the 2002 draft.
