Braves Make Roster Moves – Evans Comes to Rome

Rome, GA - The Braves continue their road trip tonight in Charleston, South Carolina hoping to make it two wins in a row over the RiverDogs. Yesterday Rome defeated Charleston 6-3. The Braves begin a four game home stand tomorrow against the Savannah Sand Gnats.

Roster Moves: Two pitchers, Marcus Covington and Pedro Rayo, have been sent to Danville of the Appalachian League. Covington was 0-0 in two appearances and Rayo was 0-2 in six appearances. Right-hander Jeff Lyman has been activated from the disabled list and was 4-0 with a 2.98 ERA prior to being placed on the DL. Right-handed pitcher Dustin Evans joins the Rome Braves from Georgia Southern where he was a second round pick for the Atlanta Braves and the 68th pick overall. Evans, from Taylorsville, GA, played high school baseball at Adairsville High and becomes the second Northwest Georgia player to join the Rome Braves. Josh Morris, from Cartersville, joined the team on June 25th. Roster changes are in effect on 7/4/06.
