
Ventura leads Suns to 6-3 win over Captains

(Eastlake, OH)--Leivi Ventura slugged a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Monday night, leading the visiting Hagerstown Suns to a 6-3 win over the Lake County Captains at Classic Park.
Ventura's homer, his 10th of the season and sixth against the Captains, broke a 3-3 tie. Captains righty Jason Schutt (0-1) allowed a pair of singles to Jonel Pacheco and Nick Evans before serving up a 400-foot drive to center field by Ventura.
The Captains (6-6) tied the game 3-3 in the eighth on a two-run homer by Chris Gimenez off German Marte (3-0). Marte stayed in the game for the ninth and retired the Captains 1-2-3.
Mike Conroy homered for the Captains in the fourth, a solo shot of Hagerstown starter Jon Niese. It was Conroy's 10th of the season.
Niese, a Defiance, Ohio, native and resident, limited the Captains to one run over 6 1/3 innings.
Pacheco had three hits for the Suns (5-6).
