
Intimidators Drop Sixth Straight

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The Kannapolis Intimidators dropped their sixth straight game, falling 11-6 to the Hagerstown Suns in front of 4,540 on Saturday night at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The Suns pulled within 1.5 games of first place Greensboro in the Northern Division standings with their seventh straight win in a game that featured 27 total hits.
Hagerstown puts runs on the board in each of the first four innings to pull away. In the first inning, three straight Suns singles and a wild pitch made it 2-0. Brian Goodwin added an RBI-single in the second inning and Caleb Ramsey drove in another run with a third- inning groundout. Matt Skole's two-run home run (13) highlighted a four-run fourth inning.
Goodwin and Billy Burns each went 3-for-5 with three runs scored to lead the Suns offense, which churched out 14 hits.
Hagerstown's starting pitcher Taylor Hill (6-4) earned the win, working five innings and allowing four runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and a walk. Relievers Ben Hawkins, Bobby Lucas and Christopher McKenzie combined to work four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Intimidators starter Jefferson Olacio (1-4) took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits in three innings. Stew Brase surrendered six runs (two earned) on five hits in two relief innings. Jeff Soptic and Jarrett Casey combined to work the final four innings for Kannapolis, allowing a run on four hits with five strikeouts between them.
Bill Rice led the Kannapolis offense, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Mark Haddow drove in a pair of runs on a 2-for-5 night, and Rangel Ravelo, Kevin Dubler and Grant Bucker also tallied two hits.
The Intimidators and Suns wrap up this three-game on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
