Today's Game Notes:

About Yesterday... The Kannapolis Intimidators opened their four-game series in Salisbury with a 5-3 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds on Monday night. Trayce Thompson's fifth inning homerun (1), a two-run shot, reclaimed the lead for Kannapolis after the Shorebirds broke a 1-1 tie with back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fourth inning by Kipp Schutz and Mike Flacco.

Delmarva tied the game, 3-3, on a Schutz RBI-groundout to finish the line on Intimidators starting pitcher Matt Heidenreich. The right-hander did not register a decision while allowing three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over five and one-third innings pitched.

Thompson struck again in the seventh inning, reaching base after being hit by a pitch and eventually scoring on a passed ball. The Intimidators added an insurance run in the eighth when Juan Silverio singled home Brady Shoemaker for a 5-3 advantage. Jimmy Ballinger (1-0) came on to throw three and one-third scoreless innings for Kannapolis to earn his first of the season. Steven Upchurch recorded the final out for the save. Shorebirds reliever Jarret Martin (0-1) took the loss.

Home Opener Friday... The Kannapolis Intimidators will take the field in front of the home crowd on Friday, April 15 at 7:05 p.m. at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. Tickets are still available for the team's first home stand by calling (704) 932-3267 or visiting www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com.

Running Down A Dream... Ross Wilson stole three bases in Monday's win against Delmarva. The Intimidators as a team stole three bases just once last season, on April 25 against the West Virginia Power.

WHIP It Good... Starting pitchers Ryan Buch and Jake Petricka are tied for the fourth-lowest WHIP throughout Lo-A at 0.17. The Intimidators top two starters have allowed a combined two base runners in 12 innings of work.

Offensively Off... The Intimidators offense started the season with 24 consecutive scoreless innings before Mike Blanke's two-run homerun defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws in the 16th inning of the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday.
