
International League Names Players of the Week

The International League announced today that Columbus shortstop Francisco Lindor and Indianapolis pitcher Adrian Sampson have been named the League's Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the period from June 1-Â7.  Sampson, who was also named IL Pitcher of the Week April 27-ÂMay 3, is now the fourth player in the League to have individually claimed two weekly honors during the 2015 season, following Charlotte's Carlos Sanchez, Rochester's Tommy Milone, and Gwinnett's Matt Wisler.  Lindor is the first member of the Clippers to be so honored this season.Â
FRANCISCO LINDOR, Columbus Clippers IL BATTER OF THE WEEKÂ
Over the past week Francisco Lindor showed why he is widely considered one of the game's top prospects, as he hit .423 and led the International League with 11 hits, three triples, 19 total bases, six runs scored, and a .731 slugging percentage.  Lindor collected multiple hits in four games this week, including a three-Âhit effort last Monday against Toledo during which he clubbed his second home run of the season.  He also drove in the winning run in the 8th inning of Wednesday's 1-Â0 victory over the Mud Hens.  Lindor hit triples on both Friday and Saturday evening, giving him five on the season  (T-Â4th in the IL).   21-Âyear-Âold Francisco Lindor is in his fifth season playing professionally after Cleveland selected him 8th overall in the 2011 draft.  He first reached Triple-ÂA last season when he played 38 games with Columbus.  He has yet to make his Major League debut.  Lindor is a native of Caguas, Puerto Rico.
ADRIAN SAMPSON, Indianapolis Indians  IL PITCHER OF THE WEEKÂ
Adrian Sampson delivered two more wins for his first place Indianapolis Indians this week, allowing just one run in 13.2 total innings while striking out a League-Âbest 14 hitters.  He tossed 6.0 frames of one-Ârun baseball on Tuesday night against Buffalo, matching a season-Âhigh with eight punchouts in a 3-Â1 Indians triumph over the Bisons.  He was back on the hill Sunday afternoon when, for the second time this season, he turned in 7.0 scoreless innings in a start against Lehigh Valley.  The IronPigs mustered just three hits and a walk against Sampson as Indianapolis rolled to a 5-Â2 victory.  For the season, Sampson now leads the International League with 67 strikeouts.  He's also 2nd in innings pitched (73.2) tied for 2nd in wins (6), and 8th in ERA (2.69).Â
23-Âyear-Âold Adrian Sampson is in his fourth season as a professional pitcher.  He was selected by Pittsburgh in the fifth round of the 2012 draft.  His first taste of Triple-ÂA came last season, during which he went 1-Â1 with a 6.16 ERA in four starts for Indianapolis.  He has yet to make his Major League debut.  Sampson is a native of Redmond, Washington.Â
