Inter Miami CF News Release
MIAMI - Inter Miami CF announced today it has signed midfielder Federico Redondo from Argentine side Argentinos Juniors to a contract running through the 2027 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, with a Club option for 2028.
The midfielder joins the Club as a U22 Initiative player, and as a season-ending injury replacement for U22 Initiative player Facundo Farías, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
"We're pleased to bring an exciting young midfielder like Federico to Inter Miami. He's a very promising player who is sharp with the ball at his feet, and shows awareness out of possession. We believe in his potential, but also feel he will immediately be a strong addition to our squad as we look to build on our successes in 2024," said Chris Henderson, Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director.
"I'm very happy to join a Club that is growing so much. It's a great opportunity to share the pitch with top players," said Redondo. "I'm looking forward to integrating in the group with my teammates. We have to go step by step but always dream big."
Redondo, 21, joins the Club from Argentinos Juniors, where he developed with the youth sides prior to making his professional debut in an Argentine topflight in 2022. Since then, the defensive midfielder went on to make a total 58 appearances across all competitions, registering two goals and two assists.
On the international front, the Madrid, Spain-born midfielder has represented the Argentine National team at the U-20 and U-23 levels. Notably, Redondo made four appearances with the U-20 side at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 last year and most recently appeared in six matches at the 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, as the U-23 team qualified for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games and finished as runners up; Redondo scored a goal in the competition.
Redondo is the son of former Argentine fútbol player Fernando Redondo, who played for Argentinos Juniors, Tenerife, Real Madrid, AC Milan and the Argentina national team throughout his career from 1985 to 2004.
