Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Despite taking a three run lead for a second straight night, the Inland Empire 66ers (23-26) once again fell in extra innings to the Lancaster JetHawks (25-24). The 5-4 loss in 10 innings drops the 66ers to a tie for fourth in the California League Southern Division.

Taylor Lindsey had the marquee hit of the first inning with a fly ball that sailed to the warning track in right field and resulted in an RBI triple. The hit extended Lindsey's hit streak to nine games. C.J. Cron and Travis Witherspoon also stretched their hit streaks Saturday to 11 and seven games respectively.

But once again the Inland Empire offense stalled down the stretch and the Lancaster JetHawks were able to grab momentum in the contest. A three run rally in the 2nd evened the score at three. Then after Taylor Lindsey picked up an RBI single in the 5th but the JetHawks answered back the next inning with a solo home run from Telvin Nash to tie things again at four.

Inland Empire stole some momentum by escaping a two men in scoring position nobody out jam in the bottom of the ninth with some great pitching from the combination of Kevin Nabors, Tyler Kehrer and Eric Cendejas, but squandered their own bases loaded opportunity in the 10th. The JetHawks secured their second straight walk off win with an RBI single from Rene Garcia in the home half of the10th.

Inland Empire continues their road trip in Bakersfield with a 1:30 game scheduled for Sunday.. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 1:20 pm.
