LAKE ELSINORE, CA - Everett William's fly ball to deep left went off the glove of the diving Adam Bailey and rolled into the corner allowing Chris Bisson to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the 14th. The JetHawks dropped the first game of the series, 6-5, to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday afternoon at The Diamond.

The Storm erased two late JetHawks leads to extend the game. In the bottom of the eighth inning, first baseman Tommy Medica hit a two-run home run to right field off of starter Bobby Doran to tie the game at 4-4. It was the first home run Doran had allowed to a right-handed hitter in over 60 innings this season.

Doran left the game following the home run after throwing a season-high 107 pitches. Up to that point, he had not allowed an earned run.

The JetHawks regained the lead in the 10th after Jonathan Meyer drove in Domingo Santana with a two-out base hit. Santana had tripled to lead off the inning. Meyer and Santana each had three hits in the game.

Gabe Garcia was called on from the bullpen to relieve Kirk Clark who had pitched the end of the eighth and the ninth. Medica led off the inning with another opposite field home run to tie the game and charge Garcia with a blown save. The left-hander went on to retire the next eight batters he faced.

Jose Trinidad relieved Garcia in the 12th and did not allow a batter to reach base until Eddy Rodriguez started the 14th inning with a single. Rodriguez was forced out at second on a failed sacrifice bunt attempt by Bisson allowing the shortstop to reach first. Bisson then stole second base to put himself in scoring position for Williams.

The homer allowed by Garcia snapped a consecutive scoreless innings streak of 12.2 for the Lancaster bullpen.

Jeremy Gigliotti (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings at the end of the game in his first appearance since coming off the disabled list.

The JetHawks (25-25) and Storm (25-25) are back in a second place tie in the South Division and will go head-to-head in game two of the series on Monday afternoon at 2:05 pm in Lake Elsinore. Tyson Perez (3-1, 3.20) will start against Jerry Sullivan (1-2, 5.66).
