Giants Begin Three-Game Series Against Visalia Tonight... The San Jose Giants begin a six-game homestand this evening with the first of three straight contests against the Visalia Rawhide at Municipal Stadium. San Jose swept the host Bakersfield Blaze in their most recent series earning victories of 4-3 (12 innings) on Thursday, 9-5 on Friday and 8-2 last night. In yesterday's series finale, the Giants overcame a 2-1 deficit scoring five times in the top of the seventh inning en route to the win. Joe Panik gave San Jose the lead with a two-RBI double in the seventh inning before Adam Duvall smacked a two-run homer. Ricky Oropesa added a two-run home run in the ninth inning. Duvall finished 3-for-5 with two RBI's to lead the Giants offensive attack. Chris Wilson was credited with the win after tossing two scoreless innings of relief with one hit allowed, one walk and five strikeouts. Phil McCormick fired 1 1/3 perfect innings to finish the game for his first save of the year. The victory last night gave San Jose their first road series sweep of the season.

Road Trip Review... The Giants concluded their longest road trip of the season last night. San Jose played nine straight games away from Municipal Stadium over a 10-day period finishing with a 6-3 record. The Giants began the trip by dropping two out of three games in Visalia before winning two out of three at Stockton and then sweeping a three-game set against Bakersfield.

Division Lead At 5 1/2 Games... San Jose (32-17) enters this evening's contest with a 5 1/2 game lead over the Bakersfield Blaze (26-22) for the top spot in the first half North Division race. Including tonight, the Giants have 21 games remaining in the first half. San Jose has led or had a share of the division lead for all but four days this season. The 5 1/2 game advantage is their largest lead in the standings this year. The Giants have won a California League record seven consecutive first half North Division titles (2005-2011). First half division winners clinch a playoff berth and a first round bye.

Another One-Run Victory... With last Thursday's extra-inning victory over the Blaze, the Giants have won their last eight one-run games. San Jose is a league-best 13-4 in one-run games overall this season. Their last one-run defeat was on April 28 at Visalia (3-2).

Lollis' Hitting Streak At 13 Games... Outfielder Ryan Lollis brings a 13- game hitting streak into tonight's action. During the streak, Lollis is batting at a .411 clip (23-for-56) with two doubles, one triple, two home runs and 10 RBI's. His .347 overall batting average leads the Giants and is tied for fifth in the California League. Lollis has picked-up at least one hit in 33 out of the 36 games that he's played in this year.

Home Dominance... The Giants are a league-best 19-4 at home this season. San Jose has yet to lose a series at Municipal Stadium in 2012. The Giants have pitched especially well at home with a 2.32 ERA and five shutouts (compared to a 5.40 ERA and one shutout on the road).

Duvall Continues Offensive Surge... Third baseman Adam Duvall is batting .464 (26-for-56) with four doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI's over his last 14 games. Duvall homered four times during the recently-completed nine-game road trip. Duvall's eight home runs overall lead the Giants. Over the 14-game stretch, he's raised his season batting average from .190 to .277.

Walk This Way... San Jose has drawn a league-high 201 walks this season (Modesto next-closest with 167). Individually, Ricky Oropesa (4th, 27), Joe Panik (5th, 26), Jarrett Parker (6th, 24) and Andrew Susac (T8th, 21) rank among the league leaders in walks. The Giants have also struck out 443 times this season to lead the league.

RBI Machine... First baseman Ricky Oropesa drove home two more runs last night and has collected 26 RBI's over his last 20 games. His 37 RBI's this season currently rank sixth in the California League. Oropesa is batting .365 this year with runners in scoring position.

Odds And Ends... The Giants are 23-8 this season when facing a right- handed starting pitcher, but just 9-9 against left-handers ... San Jose is off to a 18-6 start in May after posting a 14-11 April record ... The Giants have allowed double-figures in runs just twice in their first 49 games this season.

Opponent Notes: Visalia Rawhide... The Visalia Rawhide, an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, enter tonight's action in a tie for third place in the North Division with a 24-25 record - eight games behind the Giants. Visalia (6-3) is the only team to own a winning record against San Jose this year. The Rawhide are eighth in the league in batting average (.257) and sixth in ERA (4.37). Tonight's starter Andrew Chafin (3-0, 3.20 ERA) is tied for second in the league in strikeouts.
