Medica Mania Returns, Storm Win 6-5 in 14

Lake Elsinore - On a Sunday Funday, the Storm welcomed the Lancaster JetHawks to The Diamond in search of a win. The Storm are now 3-1 in extra inning games as Tommy Medica went 2-for-6 both being clutch home runs to lift the Storm over Lancaster in a come from behind win 6-5.

The Storm fell to a 4-0 deficit early as Lancaster had Domingo Santana hit an RBI single in the first and picked up an RBI in the third on an infield ground out produce for the JetHawks.

The Storm was brewing, as Everett Williams kicked off the bottom of the fourth with a single to second base and Cory Spangenberg walked to put two on. With two outs, Connor Powers reached on a throwing error which allowed both runners to score cutting the lead in half now down 2-4.

After both teams went scoreless in the fifth, sixth and seventh, the Storm would tie the ball game in the bottom of the eighth.

With one on, one out and one giant swing Tommy Medica smashed a two run home run to tie the ball game with a hit that was lifted up over the 37-foot right field wall to tie the game at 4-4.

In the ninth Rico Noel would single to left field but the Storm would fail to score and the game would head to extra innings.

The JetHawks would score in the top of the tenth when Domingo Santana hit a leadoff triple that bounced off the bottom of the right field wall. Santana would score with two outs when Jonathan Meyer singled to right field.

But it would be Medica again who hit a leadoff homerun that traveled 430 feet to tie the game back up a 5-5. Medica has now hit five home runs in seven starts since returning to the Storm this season.

In the 14th the Storm put the final nail on the coffin with Bisson on second and two outs, Everett Williams singled to left field scoring Bisson for the Storm win.

Jeremy Gigliotti picked up his first win in a Storm uniform after being on the disabled list for the past six weeks.

Storm relievers combined to pitch nine innings allowing only one run on three hits and together recorded 10 strikeouts and only on walk in the match up.

Both teams are now at 25-25 and just 2.5 games behind High Desert in the Southern Division of the California League.

Tomorrow, Memorial Day come out to The Diamond early and partake in the 5k/10k race with proceeds going to military families. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with the race set to go off at 8:30 a.m. With your registration, you will also receive a ticket to tomorrow's game versus the JetHawks at a special 2:05 p.m. game time.
