
Indians Sweep Canadians in Saturday Doubleheader

Game one was a thriller. Game two was a laugher. It all added up to a doubleheader sweep for the Spokane Indians as they defeated the Canadians, 7-6 and 17-1, in front of 4,834 fans at Avista Stadium for a Yoke's Family Feast Doubleheader presented by Yoke's Fresh Market, KAYU Fox 28, & 92.9 ZZU.
TOP PERFORMERS
Braiden Ward is officially en fuego One day after drilling his first two home runs of the season, Ward delivered the walk-off winner in the first game of the doubleheader and added three hits and three RBI for good measure in game two. The former UW Husky is now the Northwest League leader in batting (.344), slugging (.563), OPS (.995), triples (4), and stolen bases (17).
Bryant Betancourt went 3-for-3 with his third home run of the season in game one and is slashing .349/.429/.535 with two doubles, two home runs, three stolen bases, and four RBI in the month of May.
Standouts in the second game included Kyle Karros (3-for-4, 2 R, 2B, RBI), Robby Martin Jr. (3-for-5, 2B, 3 RBI), Juan Guerrero (4-for-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI), and Jesus Ordonez (4-for-5, 2B, HR, 4 RBI).
Although he was overshadowed by the team's offensive outburst, game two starter Blake Adams was dominant in his own right, allowing just one unearned run over six innings while striking out five. The right-hander out of Kansas State improved to 3-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.
