Indians strike back

Durham, NC - After the Bulls held the Indians to just five hits in the first two games of the series, the Indians offense pounded out eleven hits and LHP Shane Youman struck out 10 in a 5-1 win over the Bulls on Saturday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Nick Green and Brad Eldred both hit solo home runs in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, off of RHP Mitch Talbot (5-6) to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. Talbot left after the Eldred home run, pitching 4 2/3 innings with the two earned runs, seven hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.

The Bulls' only run came in the sixth inning when Justin Ruggiano drove in Elliot Johnson from second with a base hit. Youman (3-5) was dominant for the Indians, pitching 7 1/3 innings and surrendering just the one run with six hits, no walks, and 10 strikeouts. The Indians put the game out of reach in the seventh as Russ Johnson drove in two runs with a two-out bases loaded single and Luis Matos tallied an RBI with a base hit to make the score 5-1.
