FORT MILL, S.C. - June 16, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees.
Trailing 2-0, the Knights tied the game in the 6th thanks to CF Ryan Sweeney's 2 RBI double. Sweeney had another good performance going 2-4 with 2 RBI. However, teammate Jason Bourgeois' record 13 game hitting streak came to an end as he went 0-3.
In the top of the 8th inning the Knights walked in the game-winning run to Scranton, making it 3-2. Matt DeSalvo (4-0, 1.47) got the win for the Yankees. Andrew Cisco (0-2, 3.86) took the loss for the Knights. Gavin Floyd, the International League Pitcher of the Week, had another strong outing as he went seven innings striking out seven and giving up two runs.
The Knights end the series against the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees on Sunday afternoon at Knights Stadium. Right hander Lance Broadway (4-2, 3.27 ERA) will start for the Knights, while Chase Wright (3-2, 4.62 ERA) will start for the Yankees.
