Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, WA - What a season! The Spokane Indians ended the 2008 regular season Wednesday night with a 3-1 victory over the Boise Hawks. The Indians begin the Northwest League Championship Series presented by Pizza Pipeline tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, winners of Northwest League Western Division.
It was a record setting year for Spokane. With the win tonight the Indians finish the regular season 51-25, marking the second best record in the 26 years the Indians have played a short season schedule. The best regular season was in 1987, when Spokane finished 54-22.
The average attendance at Avista Stadium this season was 4,973, the second highest per game average attendance in Spokane's 104 year history.
Spokane had a three run 4th inning and never looked back. Catcher Zach Zaneski finished the night 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Outfielder Joey Butler went 1 for 2 with a double.
The Indians used the bullpen tonight in order to give the starters an extra day before the Northwest League Championship Series. Yoon-Hee Nam started the game and went two innings, but it was Corey Ragsdale that picked up the win in two innings of relief, his second on the season. Juan Peralta picked up his fifth save of the season. All pitchers combined for seven strikeouts on the night.
The Indians return to Avista Stadium tomorrow for game one of the Northwest League Championship Series presented by Pizza Pipeline. Game two of the NWLCS will be on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Great seats are still available for both games against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes by calling the Spokane Indians Ticket Office at (509) 535-2922, visiting www.spokaneindiansbaseball.com or by visiting any TicketsWest location.
