
Indians Remain Perfect in Second Half with 4-3 Win

Spokane, Washington - Southpaw Colten Schmidt tossed five strong innings and the Indians did just enough offensively to top the Dust Devils, 4-3, in front of 2,895 fans at Avista Stadium for OTTO the Mascot's Birthday & Kid's Day presented by Pizza Factory. Spokane improved to a spotless 3-0 (36-32 overall) in the second of the NWL season with the win and captured their first series, four games to two, in four tries against the Dust Devils this season.
TOP PEFORMERS
- Colten Schmidt continues to impress in his return from injuries that kept him out of baseball for over four years. The former Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajun allowed just one earned run and zero walks over five innings with five strikeouts.
- Robby Martin Jr. connected on his first home run of the season with Spokane- a solo moonshot in the fifth inning off Tri-City starter Sammy Natera Jr. that tied the score up at one.
- Right-hander Angel Chivilli tossed a pair of scoreless innings to pick up his team-leading eighth save of the season.

Tuesday, June 20th - Carson Palmquist struck out eight over four solid frames, but Spokane's beleaguered bullpen squandered an early lead as the Indians fells to the Dust Devils, 6-5, in front of 3,919 fans at Avista Stadium for Baseball Hat Giveaway Night presented by Pepsi and The Inlander.
Wednesday, June 21st - Everything had gone wrong for the Spokane Indians during their six-game losing streak. In one fateful moment Wednesday night, something finally went right. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Jordan Beck drilled a line drive to right field that appeared destined to land in Alexander Ramirez's outstretched glove. It did - temporarily at least - but the ball flipped over the short porch as Ramirez crashed into the wall, giving Spokane a stunning 6-5 win in front of 5,567 fans at Avista Stadium for Yoke's Family Feast Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market, KAYU Fox 28, & 92.9 ZZU.
Thursday, June 22nd - The second half of the season couldn't get here soon enough for the Spokane Indians. Despite seven sterling innings from starter Jarrod Cande, the Indians fell to the Dust Devils, 3-1, in front of 3,359 fans at Avista Stadium for Hawaiian Night presented by Longhorn BBQ. Spokane went 2-8 over the last 10 games to finish with a 33-32 mark (5th place, 5.0 games back of Vancouver) in the first half of the Northwest League season.
Friday, June 23rd - Tabula rasa. New beginning. Fresh start. Whatever you want to call it, the Indians looked like a totally different squad in the opening game of the Northwest League's second half. Spokane's lineup combined for seven extra-base hits and the pitching staff allowed just one earned run as the Indians (1-0, 34-32 overall) cruised to an 11-2 win over the Dust Devils (0-1, 34-33) in front of 5,473 fans at Avista Stadium for Fireworks Night & Sandy Williams Pre-Game Celebration of Life.
Saturday, June 24th - The Indians cobbled together a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth and never looked back as they defeated the Dust Devils, 6-4, in front of 4,190 fans at Avista Stadium for Storybook Princess Night presented by Holliday Heating + Cooling + Electric. Spokane improved to 2-0 in the second half and 35-32 overall with the win.
NEXT HOMESTAND: July 4 - July 9 vs. Everett AquaSox
The Spokane Indians hit the road for six games in Vancouver before returning to Avista Stadium on Tuesday, July 4th for a series against the Everett AquaSox.
