June 21, 2011 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release

Spokane, WA -After trailing 7-1 heading into the bottom of the third, the Indians looked like they were headed for a repeat of Opening Night's 14-2 loss. Instead, Spokane rallied back with five runs in the third, and blew the game open with an eight-run sixth inning in their 15-7 comeback victory over Salem-Keizer.

Hirotoshi Onaka, who finished the game with five walks, led off the third with a base on balls and scored on a Brett Nicholas single to center. Ruben Sierra followed with a base hit to right that scored three, as the ball snuck between the legs of Volcanoes outfielder Jesus Galindo. Carson Vitale capped off the scoring in the third with an RBI single.

Spokane got to the Salem-Keizer pitchers again in the 6th, scoring three runs on a Sierra double and two more on a Ryan Rua home run to left field, sending the Avista Stadium crowd into a frenzy.

Jose Monegro starred in relief for the Indians, pitching 3.2 scoreless innings and striking out four, allowing the Indians to claw back from their early six run deficit. Chance Sossaman set down the Volcanoes in the seventh inning, and Chris Hanna closed the door in the eighth and ninth.

The 15 runs were two more than the Indians scored in the first three games of the season combined.

The Indians are home again tomorrow night for the last game of a five game series with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
