Indians Provide Late Fireworks; Beat Hawks 8-7

Spokane, Washington - On a day when the Spokane Indians allowed five unearned runs on a season-high five errors, the Boise Hawks could no take advantage as they lost on Independence Day by a score of 8-7.
Jonathan Wynkoop took the mound for his second start of the season and pitched four solid innings, giving up no runs on just one hit with one walk and four strikeouts.
The Hawks grabbed the early 2-0 lead, scoring runs in the second and fourth innings of Indians errors.
Cody Palmquist received the start for the Indians and pitched four and two thirds of an inning, allowing six runs with only one earned on six hits and two walks.
Palmquist was chased in the top of the fifth inning when the Hawks erupted for four runs on a two-out rally, sparked by an Eric Toole double. Yonathan Daza reached on a fielding error before Padlo drove him home with an RBI single. Marte then delivered an RBI double and Brian Mundell took a four-pitch walk before Luis Castro smashed an RBI double off the right field wall, giving the Hawks a 6-0 lead.
The Indians came storming back in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six runs off Hawks pitchers Jonathan Wynkoop and Logan Cozart. A leadoff double and two swinging bunt singles loaded the bases for Dean Long, who ripped a bases clearing triple to right-center field, closing the score to 6-4. Ledarius Clark followed with a two-run home run to tie the game at six.
The Indians grabbed the lead in the eighth inning on a Diego Cedeno RBI single before the Hawks tied the score at eight in the top of the ninth on a Luis Castro sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the ninth, Moore hit a groundball to Carlos Herrera who was unable to complete the double play as the game-winning run scored and the Indians took the game 8-7.
Luis Parra was credited with the win, pitching one inning and giving up one run on one hit with two walks.
Taylor Black picked up his second loss of the season, giving up two hits and the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Hawks (6-11) will face the Indians in game two of the series tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
