INDIANAPOLIS -- Right-hander Marty McLeary hurled seven scoreless innings and Indianapolis pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth to edge Columbus, 1-0, Wednesday evening at Victory Field.

The Indians improve to 69-69 overall and 38-31 at home, while the Clippers fall to 62-76 on the season and 29-39 on the road. The Tribe has been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but still has a chance to register its third straight winning season.

McLeary (7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 SO), who needed just 96 pitches to get through seven frames, improved to 4-8 with the win. It was his first Triple-A victory since June 4, ending a stretch of six losses and nine no-decisions over his last 15 starts.

McLeary allowed a base knock in each of the first three innings, but made timely pitches to avoid any damage. He faced just six batters over the minimum in his 23rd start of the campaign.

Indianapolis used a Columbus miscue to plate the only run it would need. CF Nyjer Morgan reached on a fielding error, stole second, advanced to third on a balk and came plateward on LF Michael Ryan's single to center.

Clippers CF Ryan Langerhans (2-for-3) collected the only multi-hit game for either squad, while Columbus 1B Larry Broadway smashed the only extra-base hit -- a ninth-inning double to left.

Indianapolis RF Steven Pearce (0-for-3) saw his personal-best, eight-game hitting streak come to an end, while Morgan's (0-for-3, 1 R) hitting streak was snapped at five affairs.

Clippers RHP Collin Balester (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO) didn't allow an earned run over his six innings on the hill, but still fell to 2-3 with the loss.

The teams wrap up their five-game set on Thursday at 7 p.m. LHP Billy Traber is slated to start for Columbus, while RHP Victor Zambrano is expected to get the nod for Indianapolis.

The contest will be carried by ESPN-950 AM and IndyIndians.com with Howard Kellman and Scott McCauley. The pre-game show begins at 6:40 p.m.

A family of four can enjoy Thursday's game and dinner at the ballpark for just $52 by purchasing a Ticketmaster Family pack. The package includes four box seats, four Indians hats, four hot dogs and four soft drinks. Family packs must be purchased through IndyIndians.com or Ticketmaster.
