Braves Cut Bulls Lead to One Game

Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Durham Bulls 2-1 Wednesday at The Diamond. Three Braves pitchers held the Bulls to three hits as the Braves pulled to within one game of the South Division leading Bulls and added a half-game to their Wild Card lead.

The Bulls struck first, scoring a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Chris Richard. The Braves scored twice in the fifth inning to take the lead. Doug Clark led off with a home run. With two outs Brandon Jones singled Gregor Blanco home. The Bulls did not have a hit after the fourth inning.

Blaine Boyer tossed six innings of three-hit ball to earn the win. Zach Schreiber struck out three in 1.2 innings. Joey Devine retired all four Bulls he faced to notch a save. Mitch Talbot took the loss. Martin Prado had three hits for the Braves.

The Braves again face the Bulls Thursday at 7 PM at The Diamond in the final regular season meeting of the year between the clubs. Dan Smith will pitch for the Braves against Jae Kuk Ryu. For more information please call 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
