WATSON, MY SON: OF Brandon Watson, who went on the DL on 8/19, still ranks 5th in the International League with a .313 average.

CASTRO'S INVADING!: 2B Bernie Castro has 8 steals in his last 9 games, including 4 on Thursday vs. Louisville (Reds) equaling a Clippers record, and now ranks 3rd in the league with 31 stolen bases...he trails only Jacoby Ellsbury and Darnell McDonald, who both have 33 for the league lead...Castro appeared in 42 games with Washington last year, batting .227 with 10 RBI and 7 steals in 9 attempts.

CHICO MEETS WORLD: LHP Matt Chico was touched for 4 runs on 8 hits in 5.0 innings yesterday at Indianapolis (Pirates) after tossing 6.0 scoreless innings in his first Triple-A outing Wednesday vs. Louisville (Reds)...the 23-year-old went 5-7 with a 4.96 ERA in 25 starts with Washington before being optioned August 17.

BOOK IT: RHP Chris Booker has tossed 8.2 consecutive scoreless innings in his last 8 games, racking up 6 saves and 16 strikeouts in the process...in fact, he's allowed only one run in his last 17.0 innings of work, lowering his ERA to 3.11 from 4.26...Booker ranks 2nd in the league with 30 saves...the 30-year-old, who appeared in 3 games with the Nationals in July, has appeared in 53 games with Columbus, striking out 78 in 55.0 innings.

I LIKE TALKIN' ABOUT ABREU-U-U-U-U: RHP Winston Abreu has tossed scoreless baseball in 11 of his last 12 appearances (13.1 innings) dating to July 28...he allowed 3 runs in an inning August 13 at Richmond (Braves)...the 29-year-old, who appeared in 19 games with Washington earlier this year, is 3-0 with 4 saves and a 1.24 ERA in 36 games with Columbus...he has 82 strikeouts in 51.0 International League innings, an average of 14.5 punchouts per 9 innings.

HANGING WITH LANGERHANS: OF Ryan Langerhans is batting .238 (5-for-21) with 2 doubles, 3 walks and 5 runs scored in 6 games since being designated for assignment by the Nationals August 18 he has started in centerfield in each of his games.
